East Kowloon District Residents’ Committee Limited
‧1957年3月11日創辦，原名『九龍十三鄉委員會』
‧1986年1月1日易名『東九龍居民委員會』
隨着人口增長，土地需求日益增加，1957年政府決定興建徙置區 安置受影響村民，以收回獅子山以南一帶鄉村土地重新發展。 計劃第一步就是清拆竹園鄕，興建黃大仙徙置區（現今黃大仙下邨） 。唯當年政府出價一毫子一平方呎賤價收回私人土地，對受影響農戶 、商戶及廠戶不作賠償，其日後生計更不作任何安排，引起村民強烈 反對。在唇亡齒寒的情況下，東九龍一帶的鄉村和竹園鄉一道組成： 「九龍十三鄉聯合支援竹園村民會」，爭取妥善安置和合理賠償。 唯當年政府不顧民情，派出軍警強行清拆，並將部份村民遞解出境， 更引發中英兩國外交風波。最後在英國國會議員斡旋下， 政府作出讓步，以換地方式收回私人土地， 對受影響農戶除按農作物種類賠償青苗費， 按開荒時間給予每平方呎最高六毫子的開荒費外， 更編配徙置區舖位以轉業維生， 廠戶則編配徙置工廠大廠單位繼續經營等。事件才得以平息。 而這個自發組織亦接納英國國會議員的建議，改名為：「九龍十三鄉 委員會」，並於1964年正式註冊。1986年， 因應當時社會環境變遷，該會易名為「東九龍居民委員會」。
